in the spotlight
Raimy Sabido is one of the newest members of KBC and co-owner of TheMiddleton Venue along with her daughter.
Her story begins in Belize,
journeys to the Caribbean Olympics, involves Mayan ruins and ends up right here
in Katy.
Born
in Belize, Raimy participated in the Caribbean Olympics as a long-distance runner,
but her mother wanted a better life for her kids, so they moved to Houston in
1991. That didn’t stop Raimy’s athletic endeavors because while attending
Scarborough High School in Houston, where she graduated, she participated in
long distance running on the track team and a plaque celebrating her
achievements is still hanging there to this day.
After
graduating, Raimy’s working career made a number of stops before her current
position at The Middleton, including being a tour guide to, Belize. Among her responsibilities was to take tourists on excursions to
ancient Mayan ruins in her home country.
She’s
also worked cleaning offices as well as a travel agent and at All State who
ultimately laid her off and it was during this period when she got involved
with her daughter’s idea of a venue.
Raimy
has 3 kids, a daughter and two sons. Her adult daughter had become exasperated
by the frustration and expense she experienced by trying to locate and secure sites
to celebrate her own kids’ birthdays and other occasions so she decided to
start her own venue and asked her mother, Raimy, to partner with her. Part of Raimy's consideration was
"Rather than working to make an employer richer, I
could invest in myself and my daughter."
so they launched The
Middleton Venue located in the heart of old town Katy. They found property offered to them by Bill Baine who constructed a new building and they recently opened their doors.
Although still growing, The Middleton Venue has been hosting a Monday morning networking prayer group which reflects Raimy’s business values.
“One must put God first by praying over family and
business before marketing the business.”
She fits nicely into the KBC philosophy of putting relationship building into the business equation.
”Friendships are very important in business", says Raimy, "and one doesn't have to quote the Bible to pray."
The Middleton Venue hosts networking events, weddings, parties,
corporate events, memorials and more.
Here to your success, Raimy!
